Advanced Resuscitation Programme

The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course

Advanced resuscitation training for experienced clinicians who already know the algorithms and want to master the judgement, leadership, and practical decision-making required when the patient does not follow the textbook.

About the Course

Beyond the algorithm: advanced resuscitation for real clinical uncertainty

The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course is an intensive blended-learning programme that combines pre-course online learning with a one-day, face-to-face advanced resuscitation course.

Traditional life support courses teach you what to do. ULS focuses on when, why, and how to make the right decision when the patient does not follow the textbook.

Designed for senior clinicians caring for critically ill and rapidly deteriorating patients, ULS develops clinical judgement, decision-making, leadership, human factors, and practical skills for complex emergencies where algorithms alone are not enough.

Learning is delivered through highly interactive case discussions, realistic simulations, practical workshops, personalised coaching, and repeated hands-on practice.

Who This Course Is For

Designed for clinicians who want practical progress

Emergency Medicine consultants and senior registrars

Acute physicians

Pre-hospital resuscitationists

Experienced clinicians involved in the assessment and management of critically ill or rapidly deteriorating patients

Learning Outcomes

What you will be able to do

Clinical outcome

Recognise and manage complex resuscitation scenarios including refractory VF, recurrent VF, electrical storm, LVAD cardiac arrest, CPVT, complex toxicological emergencies, and traumatic cardiac arrest.

Clinical outcome

Apply the latest evidence and emerging best practice in advanced resuscitation.

Clinical outcome

Make confident clinical decisions when standard resuscitation algorithms are no longer sufficient.

Clinical outcome

Critically evaluate controversial and evolving treatment strategies and apply them appropriately.

Clinical outcome

Lead resuscitation teams effectively using advanced decision-making, human factors, and crisis resource management principles.

Clinical outcome

Translate cutting-edge evidence into practical bedside decisions that improve patient care.

Course Benefits

What Makes ULS Different?

Beyond standard algorithms, ULS focuses on the clinical judgement required when there is no single algorithmic answer.

Evidence into practice, explore current evidence, emerging therapies, and evolving or controversial areas of resuscitation medicine.

Small-group advanced training, attendance is limited to only 12 participants.

Exceptional faculty access, maximum instructor-to-candidate ratio of 1:3.

Hands-on by design, personalised coaching, repeated practical training, simulation, and meaningful clinical discussion rather than crowded lecture-based teaching.

Leadership under pressure, strengthen decision-making, communication, human factors, and crisis resource management during high-stakes resuscitations.

How It Works

The ULS Blended Learning Experience

  1. Complete the structured pre-course online learning modules.
  2. Attend the intensive one-day face-to-face advanced resuscitation programme.
  3. Work through complex cases, simulations, and practical workshops with a maximum 1:3 instructor-to-candidate ratio.
  4. Apply advanced clinical reasoning, evidence, leadership, and human-factors principles to realistic resuscitation scenarios.

Accreditation

UK CPD Accreditation

The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course has been approved by the CPD Group of the United Kingdom for 10 CPD credits.

Track Record

A Deliberately Small Advanced Course

Maximum 12 participants per course.

Maximum 1 instructor for every 3 candidates.

Designed for clinicians who have already learned standard life support algorithms and want to develop the judgement behind them.

Priority is given to clinicians who have completed ALS, EPALS, APLS, ATLS, or an equivalent advanced life support course.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course?
ULS is an advanced blended-learning resuscitation course for experienced clinicians. It combines pre-course online learning with an intensive face-to-face programme focused on clinical judgement, advanced decision-making, leadership, and practical management when standard algorithms are no longer enough.
How Is ULS Different From ALS, EPALS, APLS, or ATLS?
ALS, EPALS, APLS, and ATLS provide essential foundations and structured algorithms. ULS is designed for clinicians who already understand those foundations and want to develop the judgement behind the algorithm, particularly during complex, uncertain, or evolving resuscitation scenarios.
Who Is ULS Designed For?
ULS is designed for experienced clinicians involved in the assessment and management of critically ill and rapidly deteriorating patients, including Emergency Medicine consultants and senior registrars, Intensive Care physicians, senior anaesthetists, Acute Physicians, and pre-hospital resuscitationists.
Is Previous Advanced Life Support Training Required?
Priority is given to clinicians who have successfully completed ALS, EPALS, APLS, ATLS, or an equivalent advanced life support course.
How Many Candidates Attend Each Course?
ULS is deliberately limited to a maximum of 12 participants to allow personalised coaching, repeated hands-on practice, simulation, and meaningful clinical discussion.
What Is the Instructor-to-Candidate Ratio?
The course maintains a maximum instructor-to-candidate ratio of 1:3.
Is ULS CPD Accredited?
Yes. The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course has been approved by the CPD Group of the United Kingdom for 10 CPD credits.
What Does the Blended Learning Format Include?
ULS combines structured pre-course online learning with an intensive face-to-face programme featuring advanced case discussions, realistic simulations, practical workshops, clinical decision-making, leadership, and human-factors training.
